This mantra's story is associated with Rishi Markandeya, the son of Marudvati (Mother) and Mrukandu (Father). After so many years when Marudvati and Mrukandu did deep worship and " Tapaha" for Bhagwan Mahadev and Bhagwan Mahadev confronted them asking "wish, how you want your son to be, a child with long life but quality and skill less or a child with all the qualities and skills but has an life for mere 16 years". Marudvati and Mrukandu asked Bhagwan Mahadev to grant them a son who has all the qualities and skills in the world, so Bhagwan Mahadev granted their wish. Marudvati and Mrukandu gave birth to their son Rishi Markandeya. As Rishi Markandeya about to turn 16, he got to know about his death at the age of 16 by his mother. So Rishi Markandeya got himself into deep worshiping of Bhagwan Mahadev, this is when Rushi Markandeya got initiation of Maha Mrutyunjay Mantra with the help of Saptarushi from Bhagwan Bramhadev himself.

Concept behind the song Mrutyunjay
Basically, this song's concept derived from Vedic historical story of Rushi Markandeya, in summary a person praying to Bhagwan Mahadev by chanting Mrutyunjay Mantra to rescue her/him from death. While praying to Bhagwan Mahadev, what's she/he thinking in general, this is what the song is all about. Both stanza and pre-chorus parts are written according to the various thought process of that person while the chorus part is the mantra itself, i.e. chanting of mantra during this thought process.
We tried to make music specifically heavy and aggressive to show the eagerness, seriousness and focus of that person who is chanting the mantra towards her/his desire to be rescued by Lord Mahadev. A person knows that her/his death is near but it can be avoided by praying to Bhagwan Mahadev or Shiv with chanting Mrutyunjay mantra, in this situation we tried to explain the thought process of certain person and his situation by this song.
